Demi Lovato’s Nude Pictures Leaked

First off, let me start by saying that I’m not planning on posting the actual pictures. If you found this and are hoping that this is what you’re going to find, I apologize from now, and totally understand if you navigate away. Rather, this is going to be a short rant on this vulture-like attitude that we’ve come to adopt vis-à-vis celebrity nude photos.

So, a few months ago, a few media outlets began reporting that nude photos of Skyscraper singer, Demi Lovato, were being shopped around. To tell you the truth, I really thought that those photos had already surfaced. I would have sworn on my entire down-there region that I’d actually seen them ages ago. Apparently, I must have been high off of something, because the pictures only became available two days ago.

Now, I must admit, I’m a huge fan of Demi Lovato. Maybe not so much on the X-Factor… honestly, there isn’t enough booze in the world to get me to watch that show. However, artistically, I adore her. I think she has an absolutely amazing voice, and it’s usually really hard for me to determine whether I prefer the studio or live versions of her songs. That said, I accept the possibility that I may very well be biased when it comes to her, yet I’m pretty sure that that’s not the issue in this case. One of my favourite celebrity blogs posted the pics when they surfaced, and I took a look at them, and I couldn’t help but think… BIG FUCKING DEAL! Forgive my crassness, but I really don’t get what all the hoopla was about. There was nothing particularly obscene or embarrassing about any of the pictures… well, except for the fact that she was photographed with Wilmer Valderrama in a couple of them – that’s always cause for humiliation.

I mean, the way people were going on about the “leaked nude pics”, you’d think the girl was getting off with a vibrating toothbrush or something! Don’t judge… it’s a real thing. She just wasn’t clothed, and so I repeat… BIG DEAL! I don’t understand why it is that we’ve created this culture that practically demands nudity in almost every film released in Hollywood, not placing any shame on the actors, yet we become vicious when a celebrity’s private photos are leaked. So, it’s okay for an actor to get unclothed in a room full of film crew, but one nude selfie in a locked bathroom should have this same person fleeing into exile? In what universe does this make ANY sense? Don’t even get me started on the fact that men walk around shirtless all the time and no one does anything but comment on their physique (good or bad) yet the instant the outline of a female’s nipple is visible, we’re ready to classify it as porn.

I wanna make it clear that I’m not condemning anyone for wanting to see a celeb’s nude pics, cuz lord knows if there were leaked photos of Taylor Lautner, I’d be first in line to see them. I just don’t think it’s fair that we’re creating this pretend concern campaign of “be proud in your own skin” or “love your body” or whatever other bullshit slogan we’re harping on about when we’re totally prepared to crucify anyone for photographing themselves nude. So, are we only supposed to appreciate and be proud of our skin when it’s covered beneath layers and layers of designer labels? We can’t have it both ways! We really need to stop and realise that there is nothing wrong with the naked human form. I’m not saying that we should go traipsing down Sunset Avenue with our saggy soccer balls and droopy basketboobs swinging all over the place every day. But we need to cut this shit culture of shaming anyone (celebrities and regulars alike) who dares to show their nature-given bodies sans clothes.
