Ansel Elgort Tap Dances His Way Into My Heart

I believe that Ansel Elgort is my newest celebrity crush. Well, maybe not so new – besides all the telekinetic awesomeness, he was probably the best part about Carrie and I loved him in it. He’s next set to appear in the highly awaited tear-jerker, The Fault in Our Stars, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by John Greene. As you probably know, he will be co-starring alongside Shailene Woodley in The Fault in Our Stars as her love interest. However, only a few months ago, he co-starred alongside her in the blockbuster Divergent as her brother.

Is this a new trend in Hollywood that I wasn’t informed about – casting actors to play siblings in one film and lovers in a next? I was confused to Heaven and back watching Godzilla because Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen played spouses in that movie, yet I was convinced that I’d seen news that they would be playing siblings in an upcoming movie. For almost the entire time I was watching Godzilla, I kept wondering if my mind had made up this sibling storyline for them; needless to say, I felt I was going crazy. It wasn’t until I read a review of Godzilla by a fellow blogger – brilliantly written, I might add – that I found out that they are, indeed, set to play siblings in the upcoming Avengers movie. Now I understand the argument that actors’ skills are diverse and that they can play any role and blah blah blah, but there is no shortage of young actors in Hollywood right now. Roles can be given to star attractions without this virtual cinematic incest thing happening. I know that the actors are not really related so it shouldn’t matter, but it’s no secret that we tend to get attached to characters, sometimes more so than we are by the actors playing them, especially if the acting is amazing. So, yeah, it is weird for the fans. I swear, if Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) are ever cast as siblings in a future movie, I’m going to lose it on Hollywood.

Anyiknowimapsycho, the ADORESable Ansel Elgort stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote The Fault in Our Stars and, while there, revealed that he’d taken ballet and tap dance classes when he was younger. Naturally, Jimmy Fallon asked for a demonstration, to which Ansel graciously obliged and, though short, it was exceedingly cute. Honestly, between that and his apparent appreciation for his newfound stardom, he seems like a real down-to-earth guy. We can only hope that it lasts because in the entertainment industry, it doesn’t often… but, while it does, I’m going to enjoy it.
